The Children’s Workshop celebrated the grand opening of their new School Age Program location at 833 Riverside, RI on August 17, 2011. This marks the sixteenth location for the Rhode Island based child care company.
Chief of the East Providence Police Department, Joseph Tavares, Children’s Workshop’s President and founder, David MacDonald, newly named location Director, Alyson Tilley, and Webster the Puffin, the Company’s Mascot, were all present for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We are extremely excited to be back in the Riverside community and cannot wait to meet all our neighbors. We invested a lot of money and manpower into this school to make sure that the needs of Riverside’s parents are met,” said David MacDonald at the event.
The newly renovated Riverside, RI locations will service the community for before and after school care and also offer summer and school vacation programs. Ages for the program start at 5 years and go to up age 13. This location is unique to the company as the first location to exclusively offer before and after school education and care.
Other Children’s Workshop locations service ages 6 weeks through age 13, depending on location. The first center, located in Lincoln, opened its doors with only 18 children in 1990, but grew to 80 within a matter of months. It became clear that additional high-quality programs were sought by families throughout the region. The Children’s Workshop acquired and developed additional programs and now operates 16 centers throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts, meeting the educational, emotional and developmental needs of some 1,500 children daily.
Today, The Children’s Workshop prides itself on providing its families with one of the best levels of service in the child care industry.
