The Children's Workshop program in Rumford, RI achieved accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children. NAEYC's mission is to serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of all young children with primary focus on the provision of educational and developmental services and resources.
The NAEYC Academy specifically commends the Rumford center for promoting positive relationships among all children and adults in order to encourage each child's sense of individual worth and belonging as part of a community and to foster each child's ability to contribute as a responsible community member. They also noted that our learning programs recognize the importance of reciprocal relationships between families, educators, agencies and institutions that can support us in achieving our goals for curriculum, health promotion, children's transitions, inclusion, and diversity. The NAEYC Academy also commends our program for using ongoing, systematic, formal and informal assessment approaches to provide information on children's learning and development.
The Rumford team also received a three out of five star rating from Bright Stars! A BrightStars rating recognizes programs that demonstrate quality beyond state licensing standards. The Children's Workshop has taken an important step and is making a big difference in the lives of children. "There is meaning and beauty in the things we do everyday for the families that entrust their children to us. I am so proud of my team and glad that they have been recognized for all of the hard work and amazing things that they do for their students," said Kristin Johnston, Director of The Children's Workshop in Rumford.
