On December 20, 2011 The Children’s Workshop, Inc, a provider of quality child care and early childhood education in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, acquired Buttons and Bows Early Learning Center, Inc in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Jan Fusco, owner of Buttons and Bows Early Learning Center, decided to sell her business and retire after 18 years of caring and loving for the children and families in North Kingstown. It was a difficult decision for her but she was happy to find a quality, trustworthy operator like The Children’s Workshop to continue to operate the business she built. Jan and her husband Lou look forward to spending more time with their family and travelling the world.
President and CEO of The Children’s Workshop, David MacDonald reflected on the acquisition, “I think it nicely complements our current footprint by linking [our] Westerly [center] a bit closer and allowing us to serve a new population of families. We welcomed fourteen new members to The Children’s Workshop team today and about forty new families to our TCW family. I cannot think of a better holiday gift than this!”
The North Kingstown location of The Children’s Workshop will continue to offer care for infants, toddlers, and preschool age children. In the spring, following renovations and improvements to the center and playground, the company will also offer before and after school care. The teachers who worked for Mrs. Fusco will all continue to provide care under The Children’s Workshop under the guidance of experienced Children’s Workshop Director, Dave Stanlewicz. Dave served previously as Director of The Children’s Workshop locations in Lincoln, East Greenwich, and Warwick and has worked for the company since 1994. Dave has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and over 20 years experience in the field of early childhood education.
