PRESS RELEASE: The Children’s Workshop Chosen to Present at NAEYC’s 2018 Professional Learning Institute

Company to discuss lessons learned from large scale PBIS implementation

Cumberland, RI – JUNE 5, 2018 – The Children’s Workshop, the family owned, and parent operated childcare center, operating 19 locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, has been chosen to present at this year’s NAEYC 2018 Professional Learning Institute in Austin, Texas June 10-13. Members of The Children’s Workshop leadership and education department will be discussing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) adoption in a session titled, Five years later: Reflecting on lessons learned from a large-scale PBIS implementation.

Presenters Julie Boutwell, Vice President and Regional Director of Education, Nicole Chiello, Vice President and Regional Director of Operations and Heather Grocott, Director of Education and Training will be discussing important lessons learned in self-assessment around the PBIS system: what is working, what isn’t, and where the company should go from here. This session is focused on improving teachers’ and administrators’ understanding of how best to manage challenging behaviors and teach social-emotional skills, while increasing staff and student retention rates.

“The vision for the presentation is to increase awareness among early childhood professionals around early childhood mental health.,” states Bailey Kent, Chief Education Officer of The Children’s Workshop. “The session will provide reflection around the importance of social-emotional development. The research-proven, PBIS implementation has lasting implications that point toward improved outcomes for both children and adults, and thus for society as a whole. The presenters have over 30 years of cumulative experience at the company. The Children’s Workshop offers high-quality education for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years with programs for infants, toddlers, preschool, PreK and before and after school care.
