The Providence Preschool You Trust
The Children’s Workshop in Providence is open to children of all ages, including infants, toddlers, pre-kindergartners, and children in grade school. We offer a unique curriculum, specially designed for each of our individual age groups. We know that the parents of our students lead busy lives, and we want to help them in any way we can.
We developed the curriculum we use at The Children’s Workshop by taking cues from Rhode Island Early Learning Standards and Creative Curriculum. Studies have shown that children retain information at a higher rate when their lessons are enjoyable. Therefore, the aim of The Children’s Workshop is to keep our curriculum fun for our students. We strive to provide a warm, nurturing environment for our students, where they can feel confident in learning and trying new things. This goes hand in hand with our desire to create a strong academic foundation for all of our pupils. We want all of our students to be successful both inside the classroom and out, and the parents of our students appreciate our approach.
Our school was custom designed specifically for our students. Each of the classrooms is brightly decorated and appropriate for its intended age group. All of the classrooms also open directly onto our large outdoor playgrounds. If you are interested in an environment created specifically to build confidence and academic success in children, visit The Children’s Workshop. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you have and give you a tour! Please call us at 401-383-9958 to speak directly to our staff!
Parent Communication App
We have an extraordinary Parent Communication App that our teachers use daily to relay information and send pictures to family members, send newsletters, and track developmental progress for each child’s portfolio! With this application, parents/guardians are able to opt into email or text alerts and they can receive any information, instantaneously, about their child and their child’s school day.
Teachers and staff can tag daily pictures with our Developmental Domains (Social/Emotional, Physical, Artistic, Cognitive, and Language/Literacy) and are then able to communicate with the parents/guardians by adding captions or sending quick little notes.
Families LOVE this feature and we’re utilizing it more and more each day! We are so excited to be able to communicate with our families throughout the day and to show them what their children are learning each day.
For more information about our Parent Communication, please visit our Family Communication page or contact the Director of the school you are interested in learning more about!
Back Up Care
Preschool & Pre-K
Hi! My name is Tara and I’m the Director of our Providence location.
I began my career at TCW in May of 2010 at our Central Falls location. I started as the School Age Coordinator and in 2012-2014, I took on the Director of TCW Seekonk role. I became Assistant Director/Education Coordinator of the TCW Providence location in March of 2014, where I am now the Director.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Salve Regina University and hold an Early Childhood certificate PK-2 from the State of RI.
When I am away from TCW, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three boys. We all enjoy the outdoors and love to do things like camping, fishing and cooking out.
Give me a call so you can meet the amazing staff here and see all the wonderful activities they have planned for your children!
Beth joined TCW in October of 2017. She brings with her more than 25 years of experience in the field of early childhood and youth development. She began her career with Child Care of Southwest Florida (CCSWFL) in 1989 as the Director of the Suncoast After School Program. She left CCSWFL in June 1999 to work for the National School Age Care Alliance (now known as the National Afterschool Alliance) in Boston and then worked for a National based for profit, Knowledge Learning Corporation, managing after school programs. She returned to CCSWFL and the Fort Myers area in March 2006 to manage all their early education and school-age programs. In April 2008, she became the Executive Director at CCSWFL.
Beth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Physical Education from Eastern Connecticut State University and a Master’s degree in Management with a concentration in Diversity from Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA. Beth enjoys hiking, mountain biking, tennis, gardening, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this TCW location; not only is the daycare itself just all around adorable but the staff is what truly makes this location such an amazing place and they are key to our positive experience here! The teachers have far exceeded our expectations from not only welcoming our daughter right away but even my husband & I too! From her very first day, we felt like we were part of a larger TCW family and it made us feel so comfortable that (even though we didn’t want her to leave our side!) our daughter would be here while we were at work full-time, with such caring and well-trained teachers!
Our daughter started here when she was only 3 months old and again, as brand new parents petrified to leave their first child, we were instantly given the comfort and confidence that we were hoping to find in child care by the TCW staff. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the caring and compassionate teachers in addition to the unbelievably dedicated and passionate Director Trudi and Assistant Director, Meredith.
We couldn’t be happier with TCW & are reassured every day that we made the right child care decision!
We are new to TCW Westborough, but we are really pleased with the center staff and teachers thus far. Our boys were coming from another daycare in our former town and Trudi, Meredith, and the teachers made it a very easy transition for them. My boys are excited to tell me about all of the different activities they participated in each day; I think it is a testament to their level of engagement via the TCW’s “learning through play” approach. I have also been pleasantly surprised by the kinds of enrichment activities they provide – yoga, music, art and gross motor play. All of these programs were an “extra fee” at our former center. Finally, parents are really involved with high attendance at the monthly Parent/Teacher meetings. Overall, I have been very pleased with the staff, the facility, and the value of the program and would highly recommend.
We came to TCW after being at bright horizons. Bright horizons is great for some, but it was too ‘sterile’ and ‘institutionalized’ for us. The experience at TCW is personalized, warm, and caring. TCW is unique in that the teachers/administrators really try to understand where families are coming from and meet them halfway. My older son recently had a difficult behavioral stage where for a month or so he had some random but intense separation anxiety and the teachers could not have been more helpful. We had some special schedule issues with my work schedule and they worked with us to tailor our experience, which NO other daycare would have done. The kids love their teachers dearly and though there is always high turnover as there is in this field, I feel like TCW tries really hard to keep their staff on board and around. They have social events for parents outside of school. This is a work daycare so they will not close randomly or for school vacations/summer!! We were/are at TCW for 3 years and absolutely love them. Could not recommend more highly.

I moved to MA in August 2017 and I was looking for a great place for my 2 year-old daughter that was nurturing, with dedicated and loving teachers and most of all based on learning through play and exploration. This place is fantastic, I have interviewed so many before deciding that this was the best for my daughter. She has been in this school for 7 months now and transitioned to preschool and everything has been incredibly amazing for her and for me as a parent to see such dedication to the children. I will recommend this place to everyone. Trudi the director is incredible and so organized with everything. Communication is awesome with this application that tracks your child activities through the day and they send you also tons of pictures! I highly recommended, it is worth a visit!!! 5 stars and more for me!!!

My daughter has been attending TCW in W Bridgewater since they opened in May and we have nothing but great things to say! She’s 2 and this is her first experience in daycare. We researched many other places prior to selecting TCW. The “new-ness” was appealing but we really selected it based on the staff – very informative, knowledgeable and beyond friendly. Our daughter loves everyone there, talks about them all the time and whenever I say “how was school?” she says “great, I want to go back”. I mean what else can you ask for! She’s learned new skills in such a short of amount of time (drinking an open cup, going down a slide and interacting with other kids). And we get text/email pictures and updates throughout the day – love that!
Our daughter has been with Children’s Workshop for almost 2 months now and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. After checking many day cares in our area (some of the most expensive and some of the least expensive), I found this day care, while smaller than the bigger, more expensive ones, to have all that the bigger ones have at a much more reasonable price. Beautiful classrooms, bright colors, HUGE playground, and family activities in the summer and the day care provides all meals and snacks throughout the day.
When our child started, she was just beginning to walk and was still turning away solid food which was a minor concern for us. Within just a few weeks, she not only was walking like a pro but eating much of what was provided. This allowed me to continue on this progress at home and now we rarely ever provide baby food to her.
TCW provideS daily pictures of our child and a daily report of what she’s done. The entire staff is very professional and loving. We have no worries when we drop off our child at day care each day. I would highly recommend this day care as an option to anyone looking for an excellent day care but does not want to pay the premium price you find elsewhere.
My son has been attending TCW for about a month in the toddler room and we love it! The staff is very friendly and caring towards my son. The director Amanda is always around for questions/concerns and is very welcoming towards the parents and the children. I love the fact that they provide meals and snacks so I don’t have to stress about packing lunch. The menu they put together is awesome and healthy. The outdoor area is huge and surrounded by woods, it’s great! I can’t say enough good things about this facility, go check it out, you won’t be disappointed!
The Children’s Workshop has been a great experience for me and my child. At our former daycare we had a very unpleasant experience, we were welcomed into The Children’s workshop with open arms, they are now part of my childs extended family. The teachers have been so wonderful with supporting our family, they are all wonderful at what they do and really enjoy their jobs and teaching all the children in their care. The past year has been a wonderful learning experience for my child, he is always excited to go to school and comes home sharing what he has learned at school that day.
We have been part of the Children’s Workshop family for almost 4 years now! Our first daughter attended the Children’s Workshop in Waltham and then moved to the Children’s Workshop in Westborough when we relocated. Our second daughter joined her a few years ago at the Children’s Workshop in Westborough. I couldn’t be happier with the place we have chosen for our childcare needs. The staff is so happy and friendly, but most of all caring and loving towards our children. The management has been great, and very flexible with our constantly-changing needs. There is always open communication, and lots of feedback about our children’s activities, both face-to-face and via electronic communication. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for childcare!
The children’s Workshop is awesomely amazing, and I have no intentions on leaving them before my daughter ages out, which isn’t for years and years to come, and even then I have a feeling they will have to make us leave.
While my toddler (19 months) is excited to attend everyday, I am overly excited and extremely content knowing that she is safe, well cared for, and happy while I am working away to make sure she has everything she needs, and maybe a little of what she might want. As a parent it can be very difficult trusting anyone with your pride and joy, but I fully, completely, and wholeheartedly trust her in their loving and capable hands. Her direct teachers, Miss Marisa and Miss Suma, along with all of the staff there are extraordinary. They are always friendly, chipper, helpful, and patient with all of the children there.
The Director (Ellen), and the Lead Administrator (Karen) make everything so very comfortable for both the children and the parents, making sure to go above and beyond in everything that they do for you and your child. There is nothing that I regret about my decision to enroll my daughter into their toddler program, and I recommend that everyone in need of childcare enroll their child or children here as soon as they possibly can!
