Alicia Poole

HR Generalist

Alicia joined the Human Resource Team in 2014. As the HR Generalist, she assists all TCW employees with various needs. Though she joined the Home Office team in 2014, Alicia has been with the company since 2004. In her time in our Warwick and Providence schools, she held positions ranging from a Teacher Assistant to an Office Assistant, ultimately finding a new passion for HR!

Alicia holds an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Engineering from New England Tech. She has also completed Human Resource Bootcamp!

When not at work, Alicia enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and children, Brianna and Devin. Alicia’s children have also been a part of The Children’s Workshop family since they were both infants!

Bailey Kent

Chief Education Officer

Bailey’s favorite thing about working with children is the ability to make life easier for families, both children and parents. She loves getting to know children and their many personalities and learning the life lessons that children teach adults on a regular basis.

In her role as Chief Education Officer, Bailey oversees all of the company’s educational initiatives including a keen focus on quality, accreditation, and compliance with best practices for children and local and national licensing regulations.

Since joining the company in 2008, Bailey has been a proven leader at all levels – first as a teacher and mentor through our Management in Training Program, and then soon after as a very successful center Director and Regional Director of Education. She was instrumental in developing and enhancing the Children’s Workshop Curriculum Framework and now stewards the company’s educational philosophy, mission and vision.

Bailey graduated from Wellesley College in 2006 with a B.A. in Psychology & Education. She is certified Director II, and Lead Teacher Preschool & Teacher for Infant/Toddlers. She has over ten years experience in the field through teaching practicum, volunteer and work experience including helping to implement education programs for an orphanage in South Africa, working as an assistant in a Toddler classroom, and Lead Teacher for a preschool program before coming to Children’s Workshop.

Her other hobbies, interests, and special skills include knitting, crocheting, reading, sailing, and being a parent to Louis and David!

Christopher Casey

Vice President of Field Operations

Chris Casey came to work at The Children’s Workshop in 2010.  Chris’s education and background include hard, hard work and sweat, as he likes to say.  The child care industry is actually a step up for him as he really loves to work with children.  You’ll often find him saying that “adults are just too childish.”  In fact, growing up with 9 siblings, you could say that he has a lot of experience with children.  Chris can be found, most of the time, in our centers smiling and being a positive influence on everyone he meets.  Chris also enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Dave MacDonald

Chairman of the Board

Dave MacDonald, RI business owner and father of three, started The Children’s Workshop in 1990 when he recognized that many of his employees and colleagues were having children and having a difficult time finding reliable, trustworthy, quality child care so they could return to work with peace of mind.

Dave graduated from Babson College in 1978 with a Bachelor’s Degree in business.  He is a natural entrepreneur and has started and run several companies in the mortgage, banking, finance and real estate industries but his true passion lies with providing child care and support to working families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  When not in the office, Dave loves to golf, sport fish, boat, read and spend time with his wife Meg, three daughters, and two dogs (Tucker and Dixie!).

The first Children’s Workshop center was opened in Lincoln, RI under the name Child Care Connection and Dave’s youngest daughter Kate was one of the first to graduate from its preschool program.  In 2010 the company celebrated it’s 20th anniversary; Dave’s first grandchild, Louie, celebrated in the infant classroom in Bourne!!

Jenn Maurice

Finance Associate

Jenn has been with The Children’s Workshop since 2015 as a Finance Associate. She is responsible for the accounts receivables within the company.  Jenn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and is currently enrolled, with an expected graduation date of March 2018, at Southern New Hampshire University to obtain her MBA.  Jenn has been part of several accounting teams and has 5 years’ experience.

When not working and doing homework, Jenn enjoys camping, country concerts, cheering on her daughters in hockey and soccer, and fishing.  She also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Matt and her two daughters, Samantha and Tenleigh (a TCW student)!

julie boutwell

Julie Boutwell

Vice President, Regional Director of Education

Julie joined the Home Office team of The Children’s Workshop in 2014 as Regional Director of Education.  In this role she oversees the hiring and training of our teachers and the effective implementation and development of curriculum at 9 of our schools.

Prior to joining the Home Office team Julie served as Education Specialist and Director of our Providence school.  She also served as interim Director in our Norwood school during the summer of 2014, rounding out her experience in RI with experience managing a program in MA too.  She has also served as Pre-K Lead Teacher and taught first grade for two years at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls prior to joining our TCW family.

Julie attended Boston University where she earned both a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and her Master’s in Elementary Education.  Ever the student, Julie is currently taking additional courses in Early Childhood Education.

Her favorite part about working with children is tracking their growth and development, especially with regard to language and literacy.  In her free time, Julie enjoys playing violin, cooking, kayaking, travelling, and spending time with her family.

kathleen ramsey

Kathleen Ramsey

Director of Information Technology

Kathy has been with The Children’s Workshop since 2009 first serving as IT Associate and now as our Director of IT and is in charge of computers, phones, and internet.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts, North Dartmouth and also graduated from Clark CCI with a Master Certificate in Digital Multimedia and Web Design.  Kathy has been working with computers and the web for over 10 years.  Her favorite part of her job is visiting the centers and helping to make their working lives easier.  When not playing with her computer at home or designing a website, she likes to play with her husband and daughter.  Kathy’s hobbies include reading on her Kindle, watching TV, and going to the movies.

Katie Lavallee

Finance Associate

Katie has been with The Children’s Workshop Home Office team since 2010. As a Finance Associate, she handles the Accounts Payables for our 19 locations and The Children’s Workshop Foundation. She received her Associate’s Degree last fall from the Community College of Rhode Island and is planning to continue her education at Rhode Island College this fall for her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration!

At The Children’s Workshop, she loves working with such an amazing group of individuals and feels that every day brings with it a new opportunity to learn and grow as a team.

When not working, her passions include spending time with her family, friends, and boyfriend. She enjoys hiking, reading, going to concerts, and exploring new places. She loves googling the origin of words and gaining new perspectives!

lisa o'donnell

Lisa O'Donnell

Vice President of Human Resources

Lisa joined the organization in January 2014 as Vice President, Human Resources.  In her role she will oversee all functions within the area of human resources including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment, selection, orientation, administering leaves of absences, policy & procedure development and interpretation, training and professional development as well as service the day to day needs of the more than 300 employees that make up the wonderful TCW team.

Lisa holds Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from East Central University and just prior to coming to TCW, Lisa served as the Associate Director of Human Resources at Stonehill College.  When Lisa is not working, she enjoys giving back to the community where she lives in many ways.  You will often find Lisa on the soccer fields, whether it is coaching, contributing to the success of the youth soccer program or simply kicking the ball around for fun with her children Jack and Lauren.  Additionally, in her spare time she enjoys attending the many activities of her own children as well as her many nieces and nephews.
