CUMBERLAND, RI (November 18, 2010) – The Children's Workshop, a provider of quality early childhood education in RI and MA, held its annual L.I.F.E. Conference on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood, Massachusetts.
The L.I.F.E. Conference (short for "Leadership Institute for Educators") is a full day retreat consisting of professional development workshops and continuing education classes for the company's 270+ employees. The Children's Workshop is committed not only to the education of children but also the development and enrichment of its staff; the L.I.F.E. Conference is one of many sessions on their busy training calendar. Most courses take place in the company's brand new training facility in Cumberland, RI; however on November 11th staff members from each of The Children's Workshop's 15 centers came together in Norwood for a day of learning, team-building, and of course, fun.
The theme of the 2010 conference was "We Are Unique" and attendees were entertained by the unique comedy of keynote speaker Dr. Allan Mallory. Many professional development classes were offered along the theme of diversity including "How Can We Celebrate and Still Respect Diversity?" and "Diversity in the Workplace". Age group related educational classes including "Developmental Domains of Infants and Toddlers," "Integrating Science and Math to Create Hands on Fun," and "Sticks and Stones: A Look at Bullying" were supplemented with professional development courses like "Working Successfully with Children, Parents, and Staff," "Purposeful Portfolios," "Teamwork and Communication" and "Stress Management." In keeping with the company's commitment to healthy employees, a health and wellness fair including blood glucose screening and flu shots was also offered throughout the day.
